Experienced Account Handler – Commercial Insurance (Worcester)

Come and join our team!

We are seeking an experienced Account Handler to join our commercial team based at the Worcester office. You will play a crucial role in managing and developing a portfolio of commercial clients, providing professional advice and delivering personal service.

Location: Worcester City Centre
Salary: £30k-40k – Dependent on Experience
Type: Full-Time / Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday – 08:30am-5pm.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a portfolio of existing commercial insurance clients across industries.
• Provide expert advice on a wide range of commercial insurance products.
• Handle renewals, mid-term adjustments, and assist with new business quotations.
• Liaise with insurers to obtain competitive terms and ensure suitable cover is arranged.
• Prepare and issue accurate and timely policy documentation.
• Maintain accurate records.
• Support Account Executives with technical and administrative assistance.
• Ensure compliance with FCA regulations and company procedures at all times.
• Proactively identify opportunities for cross-selling or up-selling insurance products.
• Build strong, long-lasting client relationships based on trust and service excellence.


Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Commercial Account Handler
• Strong knowledge of the UK commercial insurance market and a broad range of commercial products.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage workloads effectively and meet tight deadlines.
• High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and system input.
• Familiarity with Acturis is highly desirable, but not essential for the right person.
• Cert CII qualified (or working towards) is preferred but not essential.

Chartered Insurance Broker Apprenticeship

Kickstart your career in insurance

Join Hazelton Mountford for an exciting and varied career in insurance, starting with an apprenticeship. Our apprentice schemes will be from level 3 and up to level 6. As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.


Annual wage: £18,000 – £24,000


Training course: Insurance practitioner


Hours: Monday – Friday 8.30am -5.00pm, 37.5 hours a week


Start date: Monday 15 September 2025


Duration: 18 months


Application deadline: 30 July 2025


Specific duties include:

  • Gaining Insurance knowledge and experience including studying for Chartered Insurance Qualifications
  • Working closely with Account Executives and other experienced Handlers to ensure clients’ needs are met, renewals are issued on time and mid-term adjustments processed
  • Learn to prepare new business quotations
  • Under the supervision of Account Executives and Account Handlers and as experience grows you will learn how to process other more complex business insurances and advise clients on their insurance needs
  • Refer and liaise with insurance underwriters as appropriate
  • Prepare and broke renewals and new business for these policies

In addition, you should learn to approach your work within HM’s Core values of:
Personal Service, Integrity, Value for Money and Expertise.

Training

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and dynamic Account Executive to join our commercial team and to further their career in the insurance broking industry. Key Skills / Experience

· Previous experience working within commercial insurance broking.

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients, colleagues, and insurers.

· A passion in further developing a career in commercial insurance broking.

· Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.

· A proactive and enthusiastic approach to learning and problem-solving.

· Ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team.

· A minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths; further education or insurance-related qualifications are a plus but not essential.

· Basic IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, Teams.

· Use of Acturis insurance software preferred but not essential.

· A full UK driving licence and own transport essential.
