Hazelton Mountford boost morale with weekly team fun and games

With so many organisations across the World adapting to working life from home, it’s been of great interest to the Directors at Hazelton Mountford to see so many wide-ranging business practices change and flex in their approach to managing their teams.
Gordon Hazelton, Jake Mountford and Simeon Chapman, Directors at Hazelton Mountford – the only independent Chartered Insurance broker in Worcester – have adopted a creative approach to make sure all of their team members feel involved and morale remains high.
In addition to weekly team meetings on Zoom, Graham Pearson, Claims Handler in the interactive team, says:
The thought of working from home initially made me quite apprehensive. Any fears I had soon disappeared after I was armed with a company laptop and sent home with my phone diverted and everything worked very smoothly and seamlessly from the outset, with great I.T. Support when it’s needed.
I’ve found that I work best if I stick to a routine and keeping in regular contact with my manager David and weekly meetings with the whole team have helped to keep up morale and maintain a small part of our normally very sociable working environment. Also on the plus side, I can put on my tunes and wear shorts!
With the good weather, I’ve been able to get out in the evenings for bike rides with my son and lunchtime strolls with my wife.
Also, with assistance from my wife, I have painted my first stone which will be a reminder of the times we are going through… and what I submitted as my entry to the ‘something you’ve made’ competition.
Previously, weekly competitions have included: best hat, bring your pet, best memorabilia/antique, best houseplant, worst shirt and, of course, something you’ve made. Luckily for the rest of the team, they’re in for another chance to win really soon, with the ‘best teddy bear’ competition later this week.
