Transport and haulage industry flexes to move the goods

1 May 2020

As a team, Hazelton Mountford commend the government’s recent statement regarding transport boosts in the national response to COVID-19.

We both welcome and commend the Transport Secretary’s statement on coronavirus after announcing measures to ensure transport boosts the national response to COVID-19 and paying tribute to the transport workers who have kept vital freight and passenger services running.

Last Friday, the Transport Secretary announced a far-reaching package to safeguard the flow of essential goods into – and across – the country. This included a:

  1. trilateral agreement along with the French and Irish governments, committing the nations to keeping freight routes open,
  2. bringing in life-saving medicines, food and many other essential goods, ultimately
  3. allowing the government to meet the needs of the countries during this difficult time.

As an expert in haulage insurance Jake Mountford, Director of Hazelton Mountford, lends his thanks to the recent response. Jake says:

“I’d like to join the sentiment mentioned in the Transport Secretary’s statement last Friday by saying thanks to all of the selfless men and women in the haulage Industry who are still working to move goods around the UK and beyond. Without them, the force of this crisis would be made so much more difficult, especially to those getting the essential supplies where they need to be.  I have been fortunate enough to know several Haulage Contractors over the years primarily through the insurance work I do for them but most I can call friends and I know that when the chips are down they can always be relied upon – well done all!”
